I found this website last night, and I figured since you guys and gals are the experts I would come here with my questions. So, I am moving out of my home in the month of May, and in search for a telephone service I have decided to go with Vonage. I am an IT tech, however VOIP Is not exactly my "cup of tea" I have been on Vonage's website and am interested in the V-Portal. However, I notice it has caller ID on the screen, If the telephones I have in my home have caller id will it show up on there screen as well? Or only on the V-Portal's screen? Also, I have a question concerning the setup. The V-Portal has a built in router...what I would like to have is just my Wireless router, and have the V-Portal plug into one of the LAN ports, and if possible give it a static DHCP address. Is that possible? Or must I go from my Cable modem, to the V-Portal, and to my router? Also, my internet will be Comcast HSI, with 6 megs down...and i'm not sure off the top of my head with the upload speed is that enough to handle a steady VOIP line, as well as working from home, utilizing a VPN connection, as well as some bandwidth heavy applications? Also, how does online gaming, and downloading effect VOIP quality? Thank you for taking the time out of your day to assist me in any questions, and I hope to become a full member once I get my Vonage service in May. Happy Easter
