Vonage I find myself becoming more and more disappointed with the softphone/v-phone

I find myself becoming more and more disappointed with the softphone/v-phone options. I feel the advertising was misleading. I spent the majority of my day at the computer. I signed up for vonage thinking "great I can handle my calls from my PC". Right and so wrong. Softphone's ridiculous 'add another number charge extra', no thank you. V-phone, I'm not sure about but if I can't use the headest already on my head for most of the day, why bother. I already have the hassle of a cell phone, do I REALLY need another handset, or headset you mess around with, when I already have suitable equipment on my head?!?! Vonage give us break here. I can't see why V-phone can use same number but softphone can't. V-phone seems tied to (what looks to be) a cheap cell phone type earbud. Not to mention with Softphone I can't even get a LOCAL number! If I find that there is no solution to this, I regrettably will go with another service. I wanted vonage as a convenience not another complication.

Softphone or Vphone

Hello I got Vonage yesterday and was hoping that I can make and receive phone
Technically - v-phone and softphone are pretty much the same. Marketing is different.
I would go with the V-phone since you want to use the same number and just switch
I ended up buying magicjack (http://www.magicjack.com) for softphone purpose.
Magic jack looks good, but I don't want to haul a phone around with me.
Is there any serious advantages of having Vonage Softphone vs. a CounterPath
They have the X-lite version as a free download. I chose free incoming number
Thanks roscopco for your reply! I do have an existing Vonage account/phone
You can make calls already for free, just download the Vonage Talk application,
Thanks again roscopco! I understand your recommendation: Vonage Talk
