Vonage I don't know much about voip... but i'm certain that it can't take up as much bandwidth

I don't know much about voip... but i'm certain that it can't take up as much bandwidth as it appears to be taking up... I recently got vonage and now I can't watch any kind of video online.. I can still surf... but it seems that my download speeds have been dropped to near dialup... I tried the bandwidth saver thing.. which seemed to do nothing at all... What else can I do?
