I do not think that this is an issue with comcast. I called them the other day to make sure that I can replace my router with a different model and they confirmed that all they are interested in is the MAC address of the modem.
You should be able to eliminate every device and have your computer directly connected to your modem. If that's not working (and you know that your modem is ok) your computer settings are off.
Are you using DHCP?
Cloning the linksys MAC to the D-link is a good idea. Then turn everything off and unplug the cables. First turn the modem on, wait till all lights are up. Then connect the router ethernet cable and turn it on. Then connect your computer and turn it on. Make sure it is set to DHCP.
