I can't seem to get any decent voice quality for this phone! It is choppy, lots of static and sometimes dropped audio. Sometimes there is static feedback- very loud. Mostly it's just, "you're breaking up" and " I didn't hear what you just said". Usually I can hear them just fine, for outgoing and incoming calls. I have the phone and adpater from the US so that I can call out from a US number and I was assured this was possible. I don't think it's because the box won't run here.
I am using the Vtech8100-one handset. I have everything connected as so:Shaw Motorola SB5101 modem+Dlink DI-624 wireless router+Vtech 8100 phone base.
I have a wireless network in my apt. connected to 2 pcs, one desktop (accessing the web via a wireless card) and one laptop, wireless access too.
I have tried:
-putting the phone base outside of the router (i.e. firewall)- slight but intermittent imporvement
-securing the network
-max. band width on the Vonage saver
-attempted to port forward but cannot access Vtech mange site (http://192.168.15.1) and it's also very complicated to me. Even the Vonage CSR (US & CAN) didn't know what I was referring to when I asked about it.
If anyone can offer any advice I would be truly grateful. Also, if anyone has any experience in the Vancouver area with paying Shaw the extra $10 and whether its' worth it, I'd like to know.
