I assume you know about the "IE tab" extension to FF that allows you to specify a list of those "stubborn" webpages and automatically load them in a FF tab using imbedded IE? No need at all anymore to ever open IE "on its own."

OH, btw, if for any reason you just don't like FF, tabbed browsing and most all of the rest of the new, highly touted features in IE7 have been available using the IE6 core for well over a year using Maxthon. Nice of them to give Microsoft a clear roadmap to follow, I guess. Of course, just like IE7, Maxthon has all of the security vulnerabilities pointed out earlier by Nate.
