I am trying to setup my buffalo whr-hp-54g/dd-wrt with my ip8100, and I am unable to get it to work.

I want to set it up like option 1 here http://vonage.nmhoy.net/tworouters.html

but I can't figure out how to get it to work...

From the primary router connection to the ip8100, do I use the blue (crossover?) cable to hook to the WAN port?

Also, can I change the ip addy on the ip8100 to be on the same subnet as my primary router (192.168.1.1 is the router, can I set the ip addy for the router as 192.168.1.2)

I have dd-wrt on my buffalo WHR-HP-G54, are there any specific settings that I need to configure? (should it dole out dhcp addresses, do I need to enable dmz and point it at the ip8100 etc)

Regarding the ip8100, what needs to be set?

Lastly, the only way I can connect to both devices from the wireless is to hook up both cables to the primary router...I have tried getting it working with just the WAN hooked up, but I have been unsuccessful...

FYI, I have tried a bunch of various settings, all to no avail, and am getting really frustated with this :-)

primary router
firewall off/on
dhcp server on, 1 address doled out
dncp forwarder enabled, using the modems public ip addy
dmz enabled, pointed at 192.168.1.2 (ip 8100's addy)

ip8100
I have tried running the wizard (setting for dhcp), and it does not work.
I have also tried assigning the basic setup as dhcp, as well as assigning an internal ip addy (192.168.1.3), as well as my public ip addy

lastly, I have a cable modem, and if I hook up the 8100 directly to the cable modem it works, but I would prefer to have my "real" router as the outward facing device...

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks in advance
