Vonage I am thinking about getting Vonage, but I cannot seem to get a straight answer on

I am thinking about getting Vonage, but I cannot seem to get a straight answer on this from the company. I have Cat5e running to every room in my house. The jack acts as either a connection to the network, OR phone service. A regular phone cord can be plugged in to get regular phone service, or a Cat5e cable can be connected to it to get network and internet access. If I got Vonage, and I had my regular phone service disconnected by Verizon, could I connect the Vonage to my router, and then my patch panel, and send that phone service throughout the house. I have heard about people doing it on regular copper phone wiring, so I would certainly imagine that I can do it on Cat5e. Because I am connecting to Cat5e I shouldn't have to actually disconnect any wires outside the house, right? This description makes me believe that I can set it up using my home network. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I know that if I cannot do this I can always buy a phone with multiple handsets and go that route. I would just hate to have to do that when I think that I have everything that I need to set this up already.
