I agree, the companies these days do not put much value into their existing customers. They bait you and lure you in, but once you are in they figure you'll stay regardless of how they treat you afterwards. Maybe the older generation would put up with this. My Mother would not think of leaving Bell. It's been her phone company for 40 years! Can you imagine, 40 years of loyalty to a company, and they are charging her .95 cents per call to dial *69. I keep telling her that there are better options out there, but she won't hear of it. Bell depends on people like my mother to keep themselves afloat. The day will come when they will have to try much harder. They've lost me as a customer. I switched to Vonage a year ago. With that I got rid of my $100 per month phone bill (including long distance and features). I have also convinced 5 friends to switch to Vonage. One customer, little ole me, pulled 5 other customers from Bell. Yet Bell continues to not value their current customers.
Why should it have to come down to threats of leaving them to get them to treat you better? I guess they will wait until they come close to going out of business before they will change. By that time, most of the staff who have a bad attitude should be gone (I would hope). They really need to get rid of their call centre and go back to the way they were doing things before. Sure, they are saving some money on staff by investing into call centres, but if they keep it up they will have no staff because their profits will be zilch. You cannot run a company without customers. Until these companies learn to put the customer first, they will never win.
Thank you Vonage. For you have given us the opportunity to finally fight back. These monopolies have got to go!
