Vonage Howdy all, not sure how many others here have had their fair share of AT&T,

Howdy all, not sure how many others here have had their fair share of AT&T, but I've had it with them to be honest. They used to be a good/decent phone provider, but since their mass-takeover over of Cingular, BellSouth, and anybody else who dares get in their way all they seem to want to do is force things on their customer that the customer doesn't need nor can afford, then when you try to work into something more price-affordable that's more what you're looking for, they give you the run around, no help, and leave you feeling trapped in what you have. Needless to say, AT&T trapped me into one of those "signature package" deals where you "save" money due to having it all "bundled". The bill now for DSL Xtreme and standard phone service now runs somewhere between $125-$150/month and that's with NO long-distance calls and no previous balances, just the service fees, etc. I've called them several times saying, "we rarely ever use the house phone, use mostly cell phones, and we really don't need 6Mbps internet speed, DSL Lite or the next step up around 1Mbps would be more than enough", to get the run around and be left where we started. Have even tried to take out certain options or features, to hear continually, "you need this for that, and that for the other thing, and the other thing for this", like everything is somehow "linked" to everything else, and nothing can exist without everything. Sadly, in going to the AT&T website, looking under services, came to find for $19.99/month could have basic DSL internet, and for $29.99/month basic phone service, and an added $5/month for a 5-cent per minue rate for long-distance calls would come to meerly $53/month; but AT&T refuses to help out or work with its customers.
For the record, I'm not the typical naive technologically-inept person off the streets, I'm highly certified in networking and desktop systems, etc, so I know they've been blowing smoke out my rear and not willing to work with me, and my roommate and I have quite frankly had it! :x (Now too bad we have to wait for our AT&T cell phone contracts to run out... btw, for anybody using Cingular/AT&T, when you renew your contract they've done away with free TXTing inside the same network. I was "forced" to pay $20 for unlimited TXTing just so I could keep TXTing my roommate as we've been doing, who's on the same phone network!)

Anywho, thought I'd at least explain why I'm going to Vonage. Now, to cut out the DSL, I'm going a sat-dish internet via my Dish Network provider being installed this Saturday, with decent transfer rates, enough to meet the minimum reqs of Vonage. What worries me though, is the sat-dish has monthly thresholds; even if we exceed the thresholds we can still use the internet just the speed will seem quite a bit slower they tell us. Now my first question (think it might be my only one actually), how does Vonage Voip handle with bandwidth thresholds and such? I read another forum pointing out how much actual bandwidth is used and what not... for people who don't typically use their house phone that often, would the bandwidth threshold be something we should worry about in using a service like Vonage? :P

Thanks in advance for any help in this matter! :-D

Satellite internet will not work properly with voip telephone. Too much latency.
I can't say much more, rather only echo the previous posters advice. Satellite
When you say naked DSL, you mean a standard DSL service *without* phone service?
AT&T is Full of sh*t. They may not do it, but most providers will provide you
Well, for anybody interested in the latest twist with AT&T... that overly
