Hmmm. OK, from this and your private message I gather that the phone works when you connect the VT2142 to the cable modem, but the computer won't connect to the internet in that configuration. However, the computer will connect when you wire it directly to the modem. Correct?
From this we know that the VT2142 must be connecting successfully to your service. Otherwise the phone wouldn't work. The question is why the computer won't connect to the LAN side of the VT. Can you log on to the VT2142 admin page when the computer is plugged into the LAN side of the VT? 192.168.15.1 is the default address; router is the default username and password.
If not, check your computer LAN setup and make sure that it's set up for dynamic addressing (DHCP). Then re-boot and try again.
By the way, you can run the forum VoIP speed test without the Vonage box connected. At this point, the test won't tell us anything with impact on this problem.
