Vonage Hi all, I'm trying to network my VT2442 with my existing router but I don't

Hi all,

I'm trying to network my VT2442 with my existing router but I don't know where to start.

I already have an existing WIRED router that has 4 Ethernet ports. ALL of which are used by 4 computers in our house. Now the Vonage VT2442 came in, so I have to use 1 port to connect my Vonage and then connect my computer to the Vonage ethernet ports.

This works well. I can use my phone line and have internet access on my computer.

The problem is my computers are all connected to a network before. My brothers and I play LAN games all the time (sometimes, battle.net). We also do some file sharing and stuff. In summary, all of the computers SHOULD be networked through LAN.

Of course, the VT2442 will give an auto DHCP IP to the computer connected to its ethernet port. Which is 192.168.15.x. The other 3 computers have 192.168. 1 .x .. With these different auto DHCP ips .. I cant connect to other computers through LAN.

I went to the VT2442 router modem settings and I dont know what to do there. Under SETUP > LAN Configuration > Subnet IP Address: is set to 192.168.15.1 .. should I change it to 192.168.1.1 (def gateway of my existing router)?? and give a different "Start IP" and "End IP" that would not conflict to my existing router.

Should I set my existing router to give static ip instead of auto dhcp and do that with my Vonage router as well?

Please help.. I just need all my computer to be connected to one default gateway to do some LAN games and printer/file sharing stuff.

Thank you very much!

EDIT: BTW, I can't make my Vonage router as the MAIN router then use my existing router as the Extension. I called my ISP and I they said that they made some special firmware modification to my router and it should always be the MAIN one.
