Hi all, I just got my Vonage hooked up today and so far am happy with everything EXCEPT customer service. Here is my situation..

I called Vonage to sign up over the phone. After being on hold for 45 mins someone finally came on the line and said that due to high call volume I would have to leave my number and someone would contact me later that day to sign up. 11PM.Never received the call so I signed up online. Everything went smoothly.

The next evening around 7:00 (after I already signed up) Vonage finally called me back and told me that if I signed up with them they would waive the $29.99 activation fee. I figured cool! I will get my $30 credited to my account. WRONG...

I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with everybody from China to India trying to get that $30. Even spoke to a so called "supervisor". I tried explaining to them that the only reason I signed up on line in the first place was because I couldn't get anybody to do it over the phone and I never got the call from them that night. I shouldn't be punished because they never got back up with me.

The only solution they had was to cancel the account I just opened ( which meant I would have to send the equipment back that I hadn't received yet and order new equipment) and open a new account. All it takes is a key stroke to credit my account.. I am no fool.

Does anybody have any help or advice on how to get this $30 or am I S.O.L.? BTW the so called supervisor was so rude I made him give me his employee number and I plan to pursue this if I could ever talk to someone who can actually speak english and is in a higher position than the yahoos I spoke with that night. I sure hope I don't ever have to deal with customer service again any time soon. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Let me make a few suggestions that might help you receive a reply: 1) Change
No offense intended to you, NE or NJ, but if your from NE and there from NJ, anything
Try calling the business office and telling the rep that you plan to cancel completely.
