Hi all,

I have just come up with a problem affecting the VT1005 WAN port. I connect my VT1005 to a LAN port on a Linksys BEFSX41 router and then onto COMCAST HSI service via a Linksys BEFCMU10 cablemodem. Just recently my router's WAN and LAN ports stopped passing ethernet traffic at 100Mbps (i.e. no packets routed), but otherwise appears to sync up port to port at 100Mbps. I've already spent countless hours on the phone with Linksys's so so support staff and there is no way to control the WAN/LAN ports directly on the router. They're just supposed to auto negotiate the speed, duplex, and cabling (i.e. straight thru or crossover). To get routing back I've dropped the speed input to the router ports by setting the PCs NIC to 10Mbps full duplex and adding a small 10Mbps switch that I had in the junk bin between the router and the cablemodem. That's working fine for the PC's internet connection.

My problem now is that I can't seem to a way to drop the WAN port on the VT1005 down to 10Mbps full duplex so I can get it to communicate with the router's LAN port again. Like I said earlier it look like it syncs up with the router LAN port at 100Mbps on the physical layer, but it doesn't work. I can see this because the VT1005 endless keeps trying to get an IP address from the router's DHCP server and if I go directly to the cable modem or 10Mbps switch it get an IP address and comes up with dial tone in the normal time frame.

This configuration behind the router had been working fine for me for 2+ years. Also, I'd never been able to get the system to function in a stable fashion without either the VT1005 or the router loosing the connection frequently when putting the router behind the VT1005. I'd really like to get my stable configuration working again without buying another router. Until then I have no Vonage service.

I know there are some "hidden" configuration pages on the VT1005. However, none of the ones I can find out how to get to have an port level controls on them. Does anyone know of how to administer the WAN port directly? Can I ask Vonage to set the speed for me on some locked configuration page?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

No there is not a method to configure the speed/duplex of either ethernet interface

You may want to just look into replacing the router with a router with the Vonage
