My Question is that I use a Linksys Router connected to only 1 computer.
Hi,
My Question is that I use a Linksys Router connected to only 1 computer. I don't have a server or running a network or anything. I'm just using the Linksys router Model# BEFSR41 for the built in firewall capabilities. So sincve the router is already a firewall. My question is do I really need the Vonage built in firewall that is enabled by default in the settings. Will disabling that mess up my connection in any way? Do you think disabling The builkt in firewall and nat will make my connection faster when surfing the net or raise my kilobytes per second in any way Like when I download large files or when I go into file sharing programs like winmx. I have windows Vista Home premium Comcast as my cable provider I pay around 59 dollars a month if anyone can figure out what the cable company gives me for bandwidth. Is there any settings at all in my Vonage settings that would or have been know in your experience to increase a person's throughput speed going from 1 website to another. The Model number for my Vonage adapter is (VT2142- VD)
I hear that a lot of the techs recommend having a spereate router because the Vonage devices are good devices, but not so good routers.
