I was wondering if someone can offer some advice on how to consolidate
Hi ,
I was wondering if someone can offer some advice on how to consolidate the various phones I have in my home/home office:
*My personal phone number is part of the Optimum Online (Cablevision) pkg. which includes cable TV and Internet.
*My home office has:
2 Vonage lines, one for Voice and the other a dedicated fax line which is not used 99% of the time. I understand that it's possible to get an Internet fax service which would send me an incoming fax via email and I am hoping I can "port" that fax number to the Internet fax service or at least be able to have it forwarded there. I don't want to change the fax number as it's been on all my business literature for years.
The Business Voice line on the Vonage system "carries" an "800" number which I pay for through AT&T. I would like to get rid of AT&T and "port" the "800" number to Vonage if possible. The "800" number spells out a phrase (1-800-321-STIM) which is an "identifier" for my business so I would definitely like to keep it.
*I travel frequently and understand that there is a way that someone could call my business (or personal number for that matter) phone number here in the USA and it would ring in the Caribbean for example and the caller would not know where I am. This is not conventional "call forwarding" as I understand it, and neither the caller nor myself have to pay any extra charges to have the call sent to the Caribbean (or anywhere for that mattter).
I find this whole telephonic issue very confusing and would appreciate any assistance in changing my phone set-up which will allow me to save monies as well as to provide consistent and reliable phone service.
Also, can the Magic Jack™ (http://www.magicjack.com/1/index.asp) be of help in this regard? I have heard many good things about it.
