Hi.
I noticed a few posts describing issues with setting up a VPN server behind an rt31p2. My problem is simpler than that I think. I can't seem to connect to an external VPN server (my work - it seems to hang when attempting to verify login and pw).
My setup is simple: laptop -> rt31p2 -> ISP (verizonFios). The firmware version for the rt31p2 is 1.30.01.

If I replace the rt31p2 with my D-Link DI624, I am able to vpn fine to my work.
For the rt31p2, I have "enabled" the vpn passthrough for pptp as well as for ipsec, and pppoe. Also, per the suggestion of linksys support, I have triggered the ports for 500, 1723, 50, and 47. However that still did not help. Linksys support unfortunately has asked that I go through Vonage to get my firmware upgraded since the router was part of a "Vonage bundle."
I don't want to blindly upgrade the firmware for something that I think should be working with the current version of the firmware.

So, for anyone who is able to successfully use VPN outbound with the rt31p2, could you please tell me what settings if any were made to the router? Or, if someone is familiar with the history of firmware versions for the rt31p2, could you please let me know if there's any chance a firmware upgrade would help?
