Hey guys.. had Vonage for almost a month now working great.. using the Linksys PAP2 had 0 problems.. until today :)

THE DREADED NUMBER TRANSFER :)

So my roommates decide they want to transfer our old POTS number to Vonage and get rid of the landline.. (smart move!) To make this easier to explain we'll call the old POTS number 859-523-xxxx.

The phone number we were using for our Vonage line was 859-215-xxxx... I went ahead and faxed in our LOA and phone bill then went to the website and clicked on the "Change My Number" link.. support had already given me some instructions and a nice credit on my account so it wouldn't cost me anything to switch my number.. I went through all the steps and told Vonage that I would like to use their virtual number (859-215-xxxx) until my phone service released my old number (859-523-xxxx).

Everything sounds golden.. right?

WRONG :) Here's what happens.. no matter what number is dialed (859-215-xxxx or 859-523-xxxx) the call ALWAYS rings to the old POTS line (859-523-xxxx). And here is the kicker.. that isn't even set up as my network unavalibilty number.. thats pointing to my cell phone! :)

Another problem is when I actually pick up my Vonage line it seems to be working perfect.. studdered dial tone (signaling voicemail).. I dial a number and always get a fast busy signal :)

Something is messed up somewhere eh :) I called tech support tonight and they said they would need to submit a ticket for the engineers to take a look at.. I'll keep you guys posted on what develops.. anyone else had this problem? Seems like a one shot mess up to me.. something got crossed somewhere.

• Sounds like you now a virtual number, which you cannot always check your VM from.
• There is no new vonage number.. it took the number that I was assigned when I signed
• The exact same thing happened to me last week. I signed up for the service and obtained
