Vonage Here is what worked for me, makes complete sense, and will allow you to: use QoS

Here is what worked for me, makes complete sense, and will allow you to: use QoS on RT31P2, log onto the dlink router as you always have (192.168.0.1 for me) from BOTH wired desktop and wireless laptop, log onto linksys router from BOTH wired desktop and wireless laptop AND without having to enable remote administration, see all of your mapped drives just as you always have, keep all of your static LAN ip addresses as if you only had the dlink connected, not adversely affect upload/download performance (my upload/download speeds are exactly the same with the two router configuration as with a one router configuration).

I am using DI-624 firmware 2.50 and RT31P2 firmware 1.28.00. For simplicity I reset both routers to factory default and then customized, but you can do what you want, depending on your skill level.

Configure Dlink as follows (can just plug your computer directly into any DLINK ethernet port to log into router) reconfigure the following: in Home->WAN tab set "Static IP Address" and in the
"Static IP" section set IP Address to 192.168.0.1, subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, ISP Gateway Address to 192.168.0.2, Primary DNS to 192.168.0.2. In Home->LAN tab set IP Address to 192.168.0.1 and subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. In Home->DHCP tab set DHCP Server to Disabled. All of this essentially sets up the Dlink and a switch/access point and ensures that the dlink will not keep searching for an ip address from your ISP via DHCP.

Now, make believe you don't have the Dlink router, and setup the linksys with your computer and cable modem plugged exactly as described in the instructions that come with the linksys router. I made it easy on myself, followed the directions, and used the installation CD that came with the router (don't worry, it doesn't install anything on your computer, and you are not less of a man if you use the installation CD).

At this point, your linksys router, computer, and phone should work perfectly. If it doesn't, get it working as in the linksys instructions and don't proceed otherwise.

Once working, log onto the linkys (192.168.15.1) and make the following change: In the Setup->Basic Setup tab find where is says "Local IP Address" and change it to 192.168.0.2. That is THE ONLY CHANGE you have to make.

Next power everything down and:
Connect Cable modem to WAN of RT31P2 (should already be like that if you followed my instructions in the order given)
Connect your PC ethernet to any ethernet port on RT31P2 (should already be like that if you followed my instructions in the order given)
Connect any ethernet port on RT31P2 to any ETHERNET port of Dlink. That is, any ETHERNET port of Dlink, *NOT the WAN port*. I repeat - NOT THE WAN PORT, but an ETHERNET port.

Got it all?

Now, power up linksys. You should have phone service. Next, power up computer. You should have internet access and your computer should have an IP address of 192.168.0.xxx. Next power up dlink and you should have wireless access. Any other devices you plug into linksys or dlink should get an ip address of 192.168.0.xxx. You are best off using up the linksys ethernet ports before using the dlink ports. You can log onto dlink at 192.168.0.1 and linksys at 192.168.0.2.

Happy? Now add custom settings (rules, filters, etc...) as you see fit. Yes, it is a little bit of an inconvenience since you have to do that on the linksys, rather than retaining your old dlink settings, but it seems a small price to pay given the benefits of putting the linksys in front of the dlink.

Hope this helps everyone.
