Vonage Here is the email I got from Vonage regarding the transfer of my number from the

Here is the email I got from Vonage regarding the transfer of my number from the line with DSL on it. Dear Valued Vonage Customer, Thank you for requesting to transfer your number to Vonage. Unfortunately, we have been advised by your current phone company that there is an issue that is preventing the transfer to Vonage. The below issue needs to be addressed in order to transfer your number. DSL high-speed Internet is currently associated with the number you wish to transfer. You will need to remove this feature in order to proceed with transferring your phone number. Please keep in mind that if you remove your DSL service from this line, you will need to establish DSL service on another line with your phone company or establish broadband service with another broadband provider, such as Cable Internet, in order to use Vonage service. In order to resolve this issue, we suggest that you : Call your current phone company and request that DSL be removed from the line you wish to transfer and placed on another line. Confirm with your phone company that your account has been updated to reflect the change by getting a confirmation number. Call us with the confirmation number. Please call us toll-free at: 1-866-243-4357 (1-VONAGE-HELP) and select the Number Transfer option. Once DSL is removed from your line and we receive the confirmation number, we can continue with your number transfer. Please do ensure that you retain a broadband Internet connection with either DSL or Cable Internet so that you will be able to use the Vonage broadband phone service. Please call us within 7 days or your number transfer request will be cancelled, and your temporary Vonage number will become your permanent number. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter so that we may process your request in the quickest manner possible. Thank you for choosing Vonage for your phone service. And please remember that you can use your Vonage service in the meantime with your temporary number to start getting the benefit of saving on your long distance calls. Sincerely, Vonage Customer Care So, I just ordered the new land-line which I have to wait until 01/23/08 to have activated. Then I have to transfer my DSL to it. Then I have to complete the number transfer of my original number to Vonage. Once complete I have to call ATT to convert my new line to Naked DSL, Dry Loop DSL, or DSL Direct or whatever term will get it done. All of this just to have my original land-line number transferred to Vonage. I think Vonage should advertise "best used with Cable broadband". What a pain.
