Hello all,
I have a client that is a small mortgage company and insurance company (two businesses, one building) that is run by a husband and wife team. Currently they have their own analog phone trunks coming in being processed by an AllWorx 10X PBX which is also their internet router.
The question I was asked by the wife, was that she has an extra office in her business area that is being unused. So she decided to rent it out to a friend of hers for the friend to run a small office there. However, that renter does not want to use the building's telephone lines because the caller ID would show insurance/mortgage business names on it.
The renter's question was if she could use Vonage or an internet telephone line instead that wouldn't require installing any new telephone lines from the local carrier or anything intrusive like that. I'm pretty sure that it's possible to do this, but I'm not sure when it comes to ports and other such items. Would it be entirely possible, that this renter gets Vonage for her little office there, plugs the Vonage adapter into the Cat5e wall jack (runs to the AllWorx router which connects to the Adelphia cable modem) there in her office. Plugs a phone into the Vonage adapter and goes about her business?
Would there be any problem from the Vonage Adapter to get online and send/receive calls? All the computers I have setup work just fine surfing the net. I wanted to make sure this was possible.
