Vonage Hello, I am trying to activate the Vonage service on all my phone sockets in



Hello,

I am trying to activate the Vonage service on all my phone sockets in the house and ended up with a tricky situation. I know there are many experts here and hoping someone would be able to help me out.

I have phone company NID(Network interface device/unit) at my house. All phone lines are home run to the box that means a seperate CAT3/5 wire runs from each one of my socket to the box. I have one number activated on all lines from bellsouth prior to moving to Vonage.

I have opened the owner side of the box and there are three bridges in the box. There are about 3 or 4 pairs of blue/white lines connected to each bridge. I understand that these are lines going to sockets in my house.

There are two pairs of Red/Green wires connected to my bridges. I understand these are incoming telephone company lines. First pair is connected to the first bridge, second pair to the second bridge. [I always had only one phone number and no DSL]. I don't understand why two pairs of Red/green are there.

I know it is safe to disconnect the telephone company connection, so I tried by disconnecting the first pair of the red/green and connected the Vonage connection to one of the sockets in the house. when I did this Vonage got activated only on some lines. I tried the other way by connecting the first red/green pair and disconnected the second pair. This activated Vonage only on the other set of lines. My understanding is inorder to safegaurd my router and adapter I should disconnect all telephone company incoming wires and when I did this none of my phone lines worked.

How should I resolve this. I want to disconnect the phone company incoming lines and activate Vonage on all lines. I tried looking into some of the old posts but the problem is my box setup is totally different than what others have described as explained above.
