Hello,
I am new to Vonage and have experience two specific issues since activating the service.

First, here is my info and configuration

ISP: Time Warner Cable (Los Angeles, CA)
Speed: 6Mb/512kb (around 5055kb/474kb through DSL reports)
Modem: Terayon TJ 700 series (not sure exact model)
Phone adapter: Motorola VT2142
Router: D-Link DI-624 (no QoS on this model)
Config: Modem<Router<Phone adapter

Router has DHCP disabled and all computers (& phone adapter) set up with static IP's.

My first problem was dropped audio. This did appear to happen while uploading some photos. My Vonage audio quality was set to highest, so I set to normal. Haven't tested as of yet with new setting. However, I did some research and it seems if you have a router w/QoS you can set a minimum bandwidth for your Voip device (either via port or IP address). From various forums it seems like setting up QoS should solve the dropped audio problem. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Second problem happend this past weekend. When I call home from my cell phone several times, my wife could not hear me, however I could hear her. I called back 2x and both times same issue. Then the following day her mom called from home phone (I believe) and the first call I didn't hear anything, but she apparently heard me. She called back and we both heard each other fine.
For both these instances no one was on the internet at all and all computer are off. Could this be a router issue as well? The router is fairly old and I am thinking of getting a new one. I haven't had the reverse issue (I can hear on my home phone, but the other person can't).

I haven't run the Voip test yet, but plan to do that tonight.

I know 3 people who have Vonage and 1 has had no issues, 1 had some static issue or service being down, but rarely, and one has had the issues I have had. I believe all 3 are on Comcast cable internet.

I am in tech support by trade and pretty familiar with troubleshooting issues. The drop audio thing makes sense and getting a QoS enable router seems to be the way to go.
What was cause the one-way audio issue I am having? Does Vonage use both the download and upload streams? Would a QoS router help this? Again, no computer was online at the time (or even on). Again, could it be a router issue.
Any recommendations on routers and configurations?
