Vonage Hello. I am a new Vonage user and am happy to say that I am not having any problem with

Hello. I am a new Vonage user and am happy to say that I am not having any problem with Voip. I am having networking difficulty with the Linksys RTP300 however.

I really wish that my very first post here was not a plea for assistance, but here goes:

I have been running a small home network for about eight years now and have a fair amount of experience with setup, troubleshooting, etc. However this is the first time I have attempted to daisy chain two routers, and despite spending a lot of time reading up and experimenting, I am getting nowhere with this setup. For reasons related to the layout of my house and networked devices I need to have the RTP300 first in line and the WRTG54 daisy chained behind it. I know I could use a WAP/switch instead of the WRTG54, but I already have the router on hand, and I understand that it should be able to accomplish the same thing.

Here is essentially what I have done, based on this Linksys article and other items I've read, all of which where consistent with this approach:

WRTG54 setup
-Disabled the firewall and DHCP server.
-Changed local IP to 192.168.15.254 (The RTP300's IP is unchanged at 192.168.15.1, and DHCP range is 192.168.15.100-149.)
-Set subnet at 255.255.255.0 (same as the RTP300)

Connection
-RTP300 LAN 1 to WRTG54 WAN
-RTP300 LAN 2, 3, 4 to PCs, etc.
-WRTG54 LAN 1 to PC for testing

Expected Result
-RTP300 should recognize WRTG54 at 192.168.15.254
-WRTG54 should behave as a switch
-RTP300 DHCP server should assign an IP to PC connected to WRTG54
-PC on WRTG54 should have access to WRT300 LAN and internet

Actual Result

-RTP300 is "recognizing" the WRTG54 as "unkown" and not recognizing it's assigned IP
-RTP300 DHCP server is assigning the WRTG54 an IP dynamically (192.168.15.100)
-RTP300 DHCP server is not assigning an IP to the PC attached to the WRTG54
-No network connectivity for PC on the WRTG54.

That's the story. I have also done a lot of other trial and error work, none of which has helped. I have searched here and elsewhere and not been able to find any reports of people using the RTP300 at the head of a daisy chain like this. Am I missing something or Is there any reason that this will not work?

I'd appreciate any assistance.
