Generally speaking, the answer is yes, you can use that setup. What you may give up is the capability of the VT as a router vs. the capability of the MN. For example, if the MN is a very high speed router (I'm not familiar with it) and you have a very high speed connection, the VT may not be able to pass the traffic through to the MN fast enough. However, you can certainly try it, and I encourage you to do so. Since you have DSL, there may be setups that you currently have in your MN that you'll need to implement on the VT to get it to work as the primary router.
The alternative, since you already have the system working, is to take advantage of the QoS capabilities of the MN to give priority to the VT. Again, I'm not familiar with the capabilities of the MN.
