I've posted this as information for any users with complex networks and log in issues. Especially for ATT Uverse users with Motorola NVG510 adsl2+ modems and Vonage systems.
After exhausting searches on several subjects I was still unable to log into vonage.com in any fashion. Although a computer and network tech myself I was unable to correct this issue. I tried resetting both internet connections ( 6Mbps Att dsl and 12Mbps Uverse adsl2+). I cleared browser caches, ipconfig /flushdns, reboots, reset/reboot both modems and my Cisco RV082 dual wan router. Tried from 4 different machines, 2 of which have never before been to vonage.com. All troubleshooting still failed to log in after 2 days of messing around.
Tried on board wireless in the NVG510 and still had no luck. Finally made a direct connection using my old dsl service connected directly to my computer. Bingo, worked right off. Deducted that this must be a double Nat issue. I've already had enough problems getting my personal server working on the new service, kept showing ports closed. Won't spend time on details for the server setup unless asked.
When using the NVG510 you must using setting (pass-through mode). This is supposed to forward all traffic tcp and upd..... It kinda does, this modem's features lack badly.
Finally was able to forward port 45631 tcp to my secondary router and am now able to use https and other secure sites. I found this important to document with all the gaming systems and networks setup behind double nat'd firewalls due to the Vonage equipment or complex networks.
My setup goes like this.
Wan 1-NVG510 on static ip. Wan2-on Dynamic ip. Both connect to a Cisco/Linksys RV082 dual wan router with load balancing. <1.5MBs down and 150kb/s up and still Voip and decent surfing speeds.
Several switches plug into the RV082, all wired connections are directly into these switches using Cat 5e wiring with Cat6e for uplinks and servers. Servers connect to two separate switches each. RV082 handles dhcp and static dhcp for everything, Have ~20 static dhcp leases daily. Have Cisco E4200 with latest firmware set to bridge-mode for wireless clients. Have ~ 20 to 35 devices using this daily. These devices include Phones, Laptops, Oem desktops, 2 Servers, several home-built machines, a Vizio t.v. and a patriot media box as well as a ps2 and wii. I think I've amassed too much crap over the years....lol.
Hope this helps a few out and still love my service, which functioned perfectly through this ordeal and 30 mins on Vonage tech support.[U][B][B][U]
