Vonage For starters, here is the info the sticky at the top of the message board said I should

For starters, here is the info the sticky at the top of the message board said I should include when seeking technical help...

Location: Barcelona, Spain
ISP Name and type: Telefonica DSL/PPP with Wi-Fi
Upload Speed: 227 kbps - Download speed: 853 kbps
Modem makel: Telefonica ZyXEL
Modem model: P660HW-61
Type of Vonage adapter: WRTP54G
Set-up of network: Telefonica router -> Vonage adapter -> Laptop
Issue: No phone light, no dial tone, Internet and wireless lights on but not functioning properly
Test of Voip with call to Boston: Result was 4.2

OK, now that that's out of the way, here is what has been going on.

I signed up for Vonage a few months ago before I relocated from the U.S. to Barcelona. The whole set-up worked brilliantly when I was still in the U.S..

I arrived in Barcelona 6 weeks ago and stayed at a hotel for a few days. I hooked everything up at the hotel, and again my Vonage line worked wonderfully. I didn't have to alter any setting or anything. Just plugged it in and presto.

I then moved into my more permanent apartment and ordered phone and Internet service from Telefonica. Everything with the Telefonica router is working fine... Phone... Wi-Fi... LAN.

However, when I hook-up my Vonage hardware, none of it seems to work?

I'm have the WRTP54G router and though the Internet and Wireless lights illuminate when I hook everything up, neither really seems to work. My laptop picks up the wireless signal, but when I get on it, it has "Limited or no connectivity." Same thing when I run the LAN line through the Vonage adapter.

When I connect my phone to the Vonage router, the phone light does not light up, nor do I have any dial tone.

Realizing I probably had to enable the PPPoE on the WRTP54G, I logged onto the web-based set-up tool and tried to do this. No luck. It tells me it cannot enable the PPPoe and all the fields on the "status" page remain zeroed out.

I then spent hours talking to the Vonage Customer Service people and they haven't really been able to help me. They walked me through the same steps on the web-based set-up tool that I tried, and we never had any luck.

Thinking it might be something with the Telefonica router, I called my original hotel to see who their ISP was. They told me it was Jazztel (another Spanish ISP) so I considered switching. But before paying all the cancellation fees, I decided today to go back to the hotel and set-up my Vonage there one more time. The theory being that if it worked like before, then the problem was definitely linked to the Telefonica service. But now my Vonage doesn't work at the hotel either.

So now I suspect I either altered some setting in the router when the Vonage tech support had me utilizing the web based set-up tool, or pehaps the router simply got jostled somewhere between my original hotel stay and my permanent apartment and some wiring has been knocked loose, but I don't even know how to test the router to see if it is functioning properly.

So I am now at my wits end. I love my Vonage, when it works, but now may have to discontinue the awesome technology I was so hoping to utilize during my stay abroad.

If anyone out there can help me, I'd be oh so grateful.

You indicated that your DSL internet service is working fine without the Vonage
