First let me say that I have scoured this forum and the web for information on using the RTP300 for whole house service. I understand that the connection should be very simple ... (1) disconnect the local telco line from the NIU and (2) connect the RTP300 phone cable to any wall telephone jack. I started the odyssey by connecting the RTP300 to my router and then connected my Uniden 2.4 GHz cordless phone. The phone works fine in both speaker phone and wireless headset mode. The volume is a little low, but I'll work on that later. Now my goal was to have the RTP300 feed the whole house telephone lines. I had the local teleco disconnect my land telephone service a while back when I made my cell phone my main line. My house was built in 2002 and it has Cat 5 wiring. I attach two photos of the NIU, prior to any changes by me. [Figure 1: Network Interface Unit - opened to view teleco connections] [Figure 2: Network Interface Unit - close up of teleco connections] In Figure 2, you see that there are two lines from the local teleco ... blue-white pair and orange-white pair. I removed both pairs of teleco wires from the gel-filled connectors shown at the top of Figure 2. Each wire was taped with vinyl electrician's tape and a warning tag installed. I then connected the RTP300 to a wall jack and plugged in my Uniden 2.4GHz phone to another wall jack. Nothing but dead air. The RTP300 internet and phone lights were steady ... no blinking. I pressed the reset button on the RTP300 and after it connected, I tested the phone again ... no dial tone. I then disconnected the RTP from the wall and plugged the Uniden into the RTP ... dial tone present. So, I returned to the NIU and removed the blue-white and orange-white pairs from the Cat 5 cable that heads into the house. Each wire was taped and I pushed the Cat 5 cable into the house from the NIU. There is no possible connection. I reset the RTP and then connected it to a wall jack. Uniden to a different wall jack than the first time, still no dial tone. I replaced the cable from the RTP to the wall, still no dial tone. Removed cable and re-attach Uniden to the RTP ... instant dial tone. The telephone lines in the house worked fine before the local teleco service was canceled and no one has touched the lines in the interim. The only thing that I can imagine is that the blue-white wires need to some how been connected in order to complete the circuit. I have not yet tried this since nothing that I have read on the internet or this forum has suggested this. Any ideas out there where my problem may lie? Thanks!!! from the
