Exactly. From one of your prior posts, the thing that struck me was that you were getting neither alarm functionality nor phone service when you plugged Vonage into an RJ31 box (?) and the alarm panel into the Next Alarm adapter. That alarm interface box- the RJ31- should have two pairs associate with it: one pair that came from the old POTS line to go into the alarm box and a second pair connected to the house wiring to allow the alarm box to feed the POTS line over to the house phones during normal operation. The fact that plugging the Vonage box into the RJ31 doesn't give you dial tone tells us that you're not getting the right wires from the Vonage box hooked to the house wires through the RJ31 box. Likewise, the fact that plugging the alarm box into the Next Alarm adapter doesn't give you functionality there suggests, at least, that you have a problem with that pair identification, since Next Alarm is telling you that their adapter is working. (They are your alarm monitoring agent at this point, right?) In short, it sounds like a simply wiring confusion at the RJ31.

Now, as you say, it doesn't matter how the Vonage adapter gets plugged into the house wiring, so just plugging it into a house jack should solve that problem. Then getting the right wires from the alarm panel plugged into the Next Alarm adapter should have you good to go.

Mind you, I'm not convinced that you needed a Next Alarm adapter in the first place. Working wiring issues so that the alarm box didn't cut itself off from the Vonage adapter might have solved your problems. Since you have the Next Alarm adapter, let's try to get it working.
