Even though the tech said the cable modem was fine, I'd try replacing it. If you rent it you could do this for free, plus it could very well be a DOCSIS 1.1. They make two versions of the DCM325 one 1.1 and one 1.0.

If you have the DOCSIS 1.0 you could see a wide variety of issues, including dropped calls. The main reason is that DOCSIS 1.1 is certified to work with streaming audio and DOCSIS 1.0 is not.

You should be able to log into the modem (192.168.100.1) and compare the Software version (its under Diagnostics) to the software version of the two different types to see which one you have. The link to the page to search on is http://www.cablemodem.com/downloads/Certified_Products.pdf
I would search for DCM325 and then compare the software versions. But to be honest if the software version allows the modem to be 1.1 compliant I'd still replace it if you rent it, since it won't cost you anything and it may fix your issue anyway.
