Does anyone know if the Uniden TRU8865 uses 5.8GHz in both directions?
A friend of mine told me he bought a Vtech 5.8GHz phone recently and every so often people can't hear him at all, although he can hear them crystal clear. After looking in the Vtech manual, he discovered that, although it's advertised as a 5.8GHz phone, they actually only use 5.8GHz from the base station to the phone and 2.4GHz from the phone to the base station. And the manual states that if you can hear others but they can't hear you, there may be interference in the 2.4GHz range (such as a wireless network or microwave oven).
After further research, it's apparently a common thing for some manufacturers to use both 5.8GHz and 2.4GHz that way on newer phones. And on top of that, a user today posted the same symptoms in this forum, and apparently this was his problem, too (http://www.vonage-forum.com/sutra18421.html#18421).
I downloaded the Uniden manual, but I can't find any mention of this in there. Hopefully that means the TRU8865 uses 5.8GHz in both directions. But since many folks here seem to have first-hand experience with this phone, can any of you confirm this? I'd rather know for sure before making a purchase.
