Can your ATA 186 receive a dynamically assigned IP address from your router? Lift up the phone connected to Port1 of your ATA 186, press the big red button on the ATA and dial 80#. If you do not have dial tone, this usually means that no IP address is assigned to the ATA or misconfigured ATA. Also, make sure the RJ45 is a straight through unless it is directly connected to the cable modem. In that case, use a cross-over cable. If there is an IP address, try pinging your ATA from a computer on the same network segment.

• I tried posting this earlier, but can't find it. I am having a horrible time
