Can you Vonage box be hacked? Yes. Just like your car can be broken into, your house can be broken into, your computer's firewall/router can be hacked into, etc. Anything can be hacked or broken into if someone is that interested in doing so and has the necessary skills (I just read how Russian mobs are "sponsoring" high school kids, paying their college education, if they major in a computer science degree and thereafter work for the Russian mob for "X" years after graduation - that's a little spooky).
If I were an intelligence agent handling national state secrets, I wouldn't use Vonage. I wouldn't use a cell phone either. Probably not a cordless phone as well. Even a regular landline would likely be off limits.
Luckily, I'm very pedestrian in my phone needs. I call my family and friends. Business associates. The pizza man. Etc.
Therefore, if you are an average Joe like me, I wouldn't worry about it. There have been no reports of any "script kiddies" easily hacking into Vonage boxes on a widespread basis, and if there is, Vonage would deal with it relatively quickly by pushing a security update ala Microsoft.
