Vonage Believe it or not, i had the same problem, disconnecting call, static, can you

Believe it or not, i had the same problem, disconnecting call, static, can you hear me now?? I found this forum and did a few test, my best results were 3.2/5.0 at test my Voip and thats if i was not downloading anything from the net.

When i have my friends in town keep telling me they can't hear me and i have to call them back on my cell phone, i was mad. I wanted to call Vonage but dreaded the wait times so first i wanted to make sure my speeds from the isp was good.

I have a toshiba pcx1100 modem for a few years now, it performs well. To eliminate anything in the house i went outside and hook the modem to the cable line comming in the house because my modem and the rt31p2 would lose connection every now and then.

When i hook it up outside i used my laptop and did a few speed test, they were close to the advertise speed i was paying for(1.4m/512) but it varied a little especially the upload speed.

I then connected the rt31p2 and made a call overseas, call came in good and then 5 minutes later, i can't here you again, AARGH.
I watched the rt31p2 phone light go out and return on its own, i was convinced it was bad but being in the computer business, i know sometime even though a good hardware worked great for years does not mean it going to perform great with new technology, so all thim time i had ordered a new modem and was giving the rt31p2 the benefit of the doubt before i throw the towel in, i had it totally disconnected because when i had it connected outside with the modem i was getting just about the same test results as when it was hooked up in my house.

My initial setup was cable modem - rt31p2 - netgear router(firewall off, just used for wireless) - office connect 16 port hub (for xboxes and more computers)

My Motorolla SB 5100 arrived and hooked it up inside (without the rt31p2) to the netgear router and man i could tell the difference right away, my speed test was almost always over what the isp said am suppose to get , but here come the real test. For kicks i just plug the rt31p2 into one of the netgear lan ports (the netgear router was reset so it had dhcp and firewall on) and within a few seconds i got solid phone led and made a few calls, clear sound no static, Whooa i was intrigued. no more disconnecting calls.

I then hooked up my hub and never looked back since, did not even logged in the rt31p2 to change anything and still all my call test are now in the green, i can play online and talk on the phonw no worries.

Whats the purpose of this lenthy post, just wated other to know what worked for me and to make sure you have that DOCSIS 2.0 modem as it does make a difference, not just any DOCSIS 2.0 modems, read around and see whats worked for others.

I went searching and hear a lot of people say how there speeds have increased since they swithed to the Motorolla SB 5100 and now i can attest to that, hope this help someone out.

Lately, my Vonage service is simply unusable. Here's what happens: I call someone.

I have no idea, but i got a good chuckle out of that! What do "they" say?
I can hear them, but they can't hear Probably "Hello? Hello!??"

Good thinking.
I have the same problem periodically. I have tested this with both a wireless (900
I've been having the exact same problem and I have the same router (the LinksysRT31P2).
I had the same problem with my RT31P2. Wired, wireless made no difference. Calls
Check the DOCSIS on your cable modem. From what I have been told by someone at 3rd
