Because people like me look to these forums for help I have to follow up my post by letting Vonage off the hook (mostly) for the outbound connection problems I mentioned above. The problem actually seems to be an interaction between the PAP2 adapter and our phone system (Voice Logic Voice Pro 512). The latter has worked fine with multiple POTS lines, but the PAP2 seems to drop or corrupt DTMF tones from the system. Thus we get the intermittent dialing problems, which perhaps are not number-specific after all, unless certain of the tone pairs are corrupted more than others. Now the question is whether the PAP2 is defective or if not, whether there are any adjustments that can be made improve the DTMF transfer? We'd lose too much functionality if we have to hook the PAP2 directly to our phones.
