I have been a Vonage customer since June 2006 and have been reasonably satisfied until today.

On 2/11/07, I paid Vonage America $239.99 for one year of service. On 11/26/07, I changed to a monthly plan online to ensure that my annual plan would not automatically renew. I assumed that the monthly plan would begin AFTER my annual plan ended on 2/11/08, however, on 12/6/07 I was charged $31.09.

When I called and spoke to Ryan, he said that under Section 8.9 of the Terms of Service, Vonage would not refund me the $31.09 I was overcharged. Section 8.9 reads: "No Credit Allowances or Refunds for Prepaid Service Plan Customers. Subject to our money back guarantee and law, we will neither credit nor refund any service fees or any other amounts you pay for any prepaid service plans." Section 8.9 does not apply to this situation which is an overpayment.

Ryan also added that "It was my fault" that the problem occurred.

There is NOTHING in the Terms of Service or on the rate plan change page that says that I cannot change from a yearly to a monthly plan, or that I need to call Vonage to do so. There is NOTHING in the Terms of Service on the rate plan change page that tells me how to cancel an annual plan.

This is a total lack of common sense and customer service.

I filed a formal Notice of Dispute via email today, requesting that Vonage immediately credit my account the $31.09 that I was overcharged on 12/6/07, and begin charging the monthly amount effective 2/12/08, AFTER my annual plan ends.
