First and formemost, a very belated but BIG thank you.
everything worked as you guys explained to me. I hooked the wires as you suggested and viola I had dial tone through all but one jack.

I cracked my head on this one jack and eventually found out that the cable was cut somewhere in the attic.

But all in all everything works fine now.
