Vonage After numerous requests for this important information I decided to put this

After numerous requests for this important information I decided to put this out there again. Maybe our benevolent Admin will make it a sticky! I am going to test the links to the firmware when I post this, but in the future they may become invalid.

Read the instructions all the way through before you attempt this, if you don't understand something, ask someone who does.

For the RTP300: (Wired Router)
http://httpconfig.vonage.net/rt-11.1.0-r021-1.00.55-r051013.img

For the WRTP54G (wireless router)
http://httpconfig.vonage.net/wrt-11.1.0-r021-1.00.55-r051013.img

Click the link and download the file to your desktop. Don't try and Open the file with any kind of program that may pop out and say "Let me open this Picture file" or you will be sorry. This is no jpeg, this is the software that your phone adapter is going to run.

Just save it and remember where the image file goes. You will have to browse and find it later.

Browse to http://192.168.15.1/. You will be prompted for a username and password. Login with the following credentials

Username: admin
Password: admin

Once you have logged in, then browse to http://192.168.15.1/update.html. The device to will automatically redirect you to http://192.168.15.1/cgi-bin/webcm?getpage=../html/bridgeUpdate.html.

Once at this page, login with the following credentials

Username: user
Password: tivonpw

This will take you to the Firmware Upgrade page. Click on the Browse button to find the file you downloaded and click on Upgrade.

Because there is no page on the device for Firmware upgrade successes or failures, it gives a "Page Not Displayed" error.

Disregard this error, as the Power light should continue blinking rapidly. This indicates that the device is still upgrading its firmware. When the blinking stops the device should reboot itself and come back with the latest firmware. Log out of the device and log back in and it should say "Firmware Version: 1.00.55" in the top right-hand corner. The firmware upgrade is then complete.

Firmware notes -

make sure you are attempting this over a wired (as opposed to wireless) connection. Otherwise you run the risk of creating a nice doorstop.

Once you have the image file on your computer, disconnect the internet from the Vonage device. You have the file you need and you don't want the device checking in or downloading the firmware on its own, or taking a phone call during this critical and sensitive time in your phone adapter's life.

At the bottom the warning says Don't interrupt the firmware upgrade process. They mean it.

Make sure you get the right image, if your device is wireless you want the WRT file and RT for RP300

These instructions are only for TI chipset based devices RTP300 and WRTP54.

(Although, these instructions could probably get you by on the Vtech and Uniden devices, except for the image files.)

You can see what version you have by logging intot he routers configuration screen and looking in the upper right hand corner.
