Actually, this seems to be an instance where the intercom is wired into your phone line. "Incoming Call" is displayed by the phone when it doesn't receive Caller ID data, which is a pretty sure sign that the call didn't originate from the phone company, but rather the intercom. If the call came from the phone company and say the intercom has caller ID blocked or something it would say Unavailable or Unknown or something to that extend, but not the generic "Incoming call"
Pretty much. You'll need to keep an analog phone hooked up to your wall jack for the intercom. My guess is that you don't need an active POTS line, though. It would just be used for the intercom. Then hook up a cordless phone or phone system directly to the Voip adapter. You won't be able to connect the phone adapter to your house wiring to have Voip service in all your rooms as that would interfere with the intercom and possibly damage the phone adapter. I suggest you talk to your building management and tell them that you are planning on disconnecting your land line and go wireless-only, but you have concerns about the Intercom. Don't tell them about Voip. They probably won't know what you are talking about. Ask them if they can set it up to ring your cell phone. They may tell you what I just did, that you need to leave a phone connected to the wall for the intercom. That would confirm my hypothesis.
