A valid concern. According to Wikipedia , the "projected" release date for N is November 2007. Not sure how that jives with your house schedule. As I mentioned though, the wired BEFSR x line does support QoS - but you're only talking $20 cheaper.
What you might want to do is pick whichever company you trust and go to their web site and actually download the manuals for their wired routers. As with Linksys, they may actually support QoS but just not mention it on the promo material.
I'm currently using HyperWRT Thibor and love it, but I'm also going to be taking a look at Tomato soon.
Thibor is more like an "extension" to the normal Linksys firmware. Looks about the same but with more features and improvements. Tomato has a different look, but is smaller and faster. The monitoring/graphing features of Tomato are what has me interested in it.
Both are also free, as opposed to Sveasoft.
Well no company is perfect. For every product ever released, you'll find people who've had problems. But as far as the Linksys WRT54G x line, you'll find way more love than hate.
I actually preferred their hardware before Cisco Borg-ed them - but it was for aesthetic reasons, not technical ones. :wink:
