A number cannot be ported in as a softphone line. What would need to be done is you would have to port your number in on the primary line on your account or add a second line and perform the port on one of these lines. If you do it on the primary line, once the port completes, the number would need to be changed. Once the number is changed, you can add a softphone line to the account. At that point you can have the ported in number swapped with the softphone line.

Basically you can only perform ports on a regular voice line so this method just provides you a way to get the number to Vonage. Once Vonage has the number, it can be made into any type of number Vonage offers. This requires an escalation as a number swap on a softphone line cannot be performed by technical support.
