2 wires is normal, so you should be okay. Just out of curiosity - did you activate the adapter online or call Vonage to activate it unless Vonage shipped it to you. Also, I don't have the WRTP54G but rather the PAP2. You may need to access the administration page(s) of the router and set it up prior to it working(?).

One more thing - along with the 2 wires at the network interface, there should be a small phone line (2-3 inches) with an RJ11 plug on it. Make sure that is unplugged as well. All I did was unplug that from the network interface rather than the red and green wires. Should make no difference, but you never know.

If all else fails, do you have a way to take a picture and post here of the inside of your network interface looks like - where the red/green wires are?? If you can't post it here, PM me and I'll host it for you.
