Well, this is rather weird...

I've got a cordless phone system that has no problem making/receiving any calls. Beginning yesterday (2-28-07), however, my sole corded phone, which is a cool Nortel digital answering machine phone system, suddenly lost the ability to dial out on most numbers, most especially my cell phone. This is important to me because when a message is left, the machine automatically dials my cell phone and leaves a message that a message has been left on my home phone machine. (FYI, there's a reason I do this and can't use Vonage's voice mail & notification instead-my machine recognizes specific numbers and has a unique message for certain callers.)

Yesterday I get home and notice a couple messages on my home machine, so I started wondering why it didn't auto notify me like it has for years. So, I simply tried to dial my cell #, also a 630 #, from my corded phone and after an almost 10-second pause following dialing, the rapid busy signal was heard. Moreover, once in a while there's a recording that said, "your call cannot be completed as dialed...". Weird.

What's stranger is that when I dial numbers from my cordless phone, I have no problem. I thought it might be my corded phone, but when I contacted Vonage last night about this, THEY had problems dialing my cell # from THEIR Vonage network as well. They could dial it from a regular landline #, but not from their Vonage lines. The tech support rep. said she'd have to elevate this but admitted she "has no idea what's going on."

I've had Vonage for over a year and have never had problems with my corded phone unit, and it checks out mechanically. This weird problem just started yesterday.

If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.

I was able to try that today. Worked fine.
Call them and ask them to adjust gains or ask them if they did any fw update and request
Well, it's been mysteriously working the last few days, so I might as well leave
