10+ seconds indicates a problem with your bandwidth, which is usually a bad install or dish point. I am so tired of VOIP people blaming every technical problem in the world on latency. Please understand this:
Latency is the amount of time it take light (RF) to travel the approximately 24,000 miles up to the satellite and back down. That is a consitent 500 milliseconds, not 10,000 milliseconds that would cause a 10 second delay. It didn't take 10 seconds to talk to astronauts on the moon, so please do not attribute every delay, poor quality problem, or billing problem to satellite latency.
